So its Tuesday and with two films we have being involved in having premiere’s tonight in London it wasn’t a hard decision for me to make today. ‘Outside Bet’ (Bob Hoskins) and ‘Strippers vs Werewolves’ (Robert Englund) both have the first showing to the world and are a glitz and glamorous event for the sponsors, investors, cast and crew will be in attendance. Its a great place for myself, probably the best to meet up with people we have enjoyed working together before and talk about new work coming up so which one have I gone to? Well the answer to that is NONE and instead I had a lovely evening sitting at home nice and safe. Only one other person in the world knows what that has meant to me and nothing and no premiere can compare. To my dear friend I hope your well and have a good day at work tomorrow. John xx
For everyone that has never being to a premiere you can catch a feel of one of the premiere’s tonight when my good friend James Helder from IFilm London caught up with Phil Davis and hear his thoughts on the director style of Sacha Bennett (Bonded by Blood) the 80’s pub culture where the film is set around and what he has lined up for the future.
Below that we have Sacha Bennett and I just want to say here Sacha is one of the most warm and delightful people I have met in the business and was a joy to work with.
Lastly and by no means least I will leave you with the delightful and endearing actor the lovely Dudley Sutton. A true ‘gentleman’ in every sense of the word who I was so lucky to work with for 5 weeks on ‘Cockneys vs Zombies’ last Summer.
Just in case your wondering if I had of gone to one of the premieres it would have being ‘Outside Bet’ I mean who wants to see a load of Strippers?. Best thing about that film was the extras that turned up and the director. Still waiting for to be reimbursed for my cheques that bounced when payment was not made and I’m still waiting, Have to move forward though so ditched them and I’m sure everyone will understand I tried my best, many hours and went to considerable personal expense to put it right but I can’t fight a brick wall. Nice on James catch you soon.

‘Outside Bet’ is a comedy drama following the journey of seven friends during the Fleet Street print workers’ strikes in the 1980s. While money, privatisation, unions and dramatic media evolution start to swirl, the life-long group of friends find themselves at the bad end of a redundancy pay-out and invest their savings into a racehorse – hoping that one final race can turn their fortunes around. The story is one of friendship and overcoming the odds. Enjoy the trailer
